Monthly Goals Update

So, my posts have been a bit erratic recently, but I intend to change that. I would like to do at least two posts a week, with an update on my TBR shelf and hopefully a tag/review/weekly thing.

Continuing the theme of good intentions, I want to check my August goals today.

My Goals For August:

So I wanted to read at least:

  • At least one book by BAME authors and/or one that contains BAME characters
  • At least one book by an LGBT+ author or that contains LGBT+ themes
  • At least one book containing themes about mental health issues/disabilities

I will go through my goals, one bullet point at a time and the full list of all the books I read in August can be found here.

1. BAME authors/characters:

  • Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C Dao (check out my full review here)
  • Only Love Can Break Your Heart by Katherine Webber (also features themes of grief)
  • Show Stopper by Hayley Barker
  • Tempests and Slaughter by Tamora Pierce

2. LGBT+ authors/characters

  • Meet Cute: Some People Are Destined To Meet (the LGBT+ stories were easily the best parts of this anthology)
  • Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J Maas (f/f couple and black love interest)
  • Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson (black LGBT+ side character who I really hope gets more pagetime in the sequel)

3. Books that feature mental illnesses/disabilities

  • Floored by The Floored Seven (Kaitlyn is losing her sight throughout the book)
  • Are We All Lemmings and Snowflakes? by Holly Bourne
  • Toxic by Nicci Cloke (depression and I will add a massive trigger warning for discussion of sexual assault and rape culture)
  • Misfit by Charli Howard
