Revisiting Reading Goals

To follow-up yesterday’s late wrap-up, I realised I had another gap that I needed to fill. I haven’t checked my reading goals for October and November yet, so I decided to combine them into one post!

1. Books that feature BAME characters and/or are own voices

You’re Not Proper by Tariq Mehmood

  • Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan
  • For Every One by Jason Reynolds
  • Wildcard by Marie Lu
  • Open by Gemma Cairney
  • Slasher Girls & Monster Boys
  • Enchantée by Gita Trelease
  • A Girl Like That by Tanaz Bhathena

2. Books that feature LGBT+ characters and/or are own voices

Grace and Fury by Tracy Baghart

  • Someday by David Levithan
  • Feminists Don’t Wear Pink (and other lies) (hugely intersectional and actually fits in all three categories)
  • What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera
  • Vicious by V. E. Schwab
  • Villain by Michael Grant
  • Odd One Out by Nic Stone
  • The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee

3. Books that feature themes about disabilities and/or mental health issues and/or have own voices

The Price Guide To The Occult by Leslye Walton (graphic descriptions of self-harm)

  • Happier Thinking by Lana Grace Riva
  • It Ends With You by S. K. Wright (suicidal thoughts)
  • Rosie Loves Jack by Mel Darbon
  • It’s All In Your Head by Rae Earl
  • The Reluctant Journal of Henry K Larsen by Susin Nielsin
