My Secret Lies With You

Today, I’m discussing the wonderful My Secret Lies With You, as I’d promised my thoughts were to come rather a while ago!

As it’s only a short, suspenseful mystery, this will only be a brief review, as I don’t want to give anything away.

My Secret Lies With You by Faye Bird:

Three close friends. Two unforgettable summers. One girl’s darkest secret.

Alys appeared last summer, and then she vanished without a trace. Cait’s new in town and she needs to know the truth: Who is Alys?

My Thoughts:

I traded for an ARC of this via Twitter, as I was intrigued by the synopsis and wanted to try out a new YA mystery. Safe to say, I was not disappointed by this gripping summer read. However it does make it hard to review, as I don’t want to give any of this page-turning mystery away.

I really liked Cait’s perspective and how authentic she felt, especially when grappling with her inner conflicts. Also, I love a multi-narrative and the sprinkle of realistic romance that Bird added to the plot was really enjoyable.

The setting was nicely written and I loved the level of detail that Bird included with references to specific towns and paces in North Wales, which gave it that extra level of authenticity, allowing me to vividly picture the setting.

A thrilling, quick read that you will not be able to put down!
