May Wrap Up + Haul

With recent events, I could not be silent. On my Twitter is a range of resources and I’ve linked here a thread of bail funds to support protesters who are arrested for demanding justice for victims of police violence. I’ve also linked to the two official GoFundMes for George Floyd. I will be doing this on every post. If you have the funds to donate, please do but if not, please support and uplift Black voices and sign the petitions.

Like April, May just seemed to fly by for me. Lockdown is a weird time, but has also apparently allowed me to read a lot. Over the past few days, I have been enraged by the events in America and have been actively trying to provide resources, petitions and places to donate on my Twitter.

This month, I managed to read all but one book from my TBR and completed 15 books!

Let’s Talk Books:

If you’ve been following me for a while, you may remember that Emma and I cohosted a feature called Let’s Talk YA. We decided to revamp this during this world-wide pandemic to become a weekly series where we highlight books that are being published during this time that may not get the release they deserve. We will often feature a review or some other exciting bookish content.

We strongly encourage other people to join in the conversation and promote upcoming books they’re excited about!

Haul:

Yet again, I’ve been utterly spoilt this month!

The first pile is the books I’ve been sent by amazing publishers, so thank you to Sam at Penguin Random House for sending me House of Dragons. ED PR really pulled through by sending me a copy of Wonderland, as did the awesome Liz and Hot Key Books with Again, Again. Rob at Melia generously sent me Even If We Break and I realise that I have never thanked Amber Ivatt and Macmillan Children’s Books for sending me Boy Queen!

The second pile is a mixture of books I treated myself to and some that some of my amazing friends gifted me, like the brilliant Sasha, who sent me The Never Titling World and Ellie, who got me a copy of The Gilded Wolves. I’d preordered Read With Pride and Hideous Beauty ages ago and Dangerous Remedy was the featured book for April’s Illumicrate! Finally, I’d had Unbroken and Dark and Deepest Red on my TBR for ages and decided to treat myself.

Thank you so much, it’s a really fun feature and we’ve been lucky that so many lovely publishers have been on board! It was a pretty big one and I’ve already read and loved both of those books (would definitely recommend them)!
